My experience:
Scandia did a wonderful, on-time, professional job on my bathroom(s) remodel. Took out Jack & Jill feature in my Cordoba bathrooms, put in 1 lg stall shower and 1 small stall shower, added washer/dryer & cabinet, tiled floors. Excellent quality work.
I agree with choice of Re-Born Cabinets. They were $3,000 less than the estimate from Home Depot and did a great, on-time job of refacing kitchen cabinets.
Also, U.S. Drapery and Blinds, (848) 833-3300, has done a multitude of items for us, over 11 years. Painting, Carpeting, Flooring, Tile floor in Patio, & other work. Dave always gives good prices for good work.
Also, a wonderful service of putting pull-out drawers in any cupboards. Especially good in bathroom cabinets so that you don't have to get on your knees to see things and linen cabinets for the same reason, only getting to see what's on top too! SLIDE-A-SHELF (714)547-4224 was great! Came & measured, and then returned with sliding shelves that fit exactly! Very timely and perfect for Seniors when leaning down or getting down on the floor or climbing up can be a challenge. I RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY HIGHLY!

Hello Ruth,

I will send you an email with the complete response to all of your questions. The Association fees are outlined in this blog under the heading/ topic, "Association Fees and what they cover". Electric is the only utility that you need to worry about in Laguna Woods Village, and they average $75 per month normal and perhaps $125 per month during the coldest winter months and warmest summer months. Property Taxes are 1.2% per year of the assessed value of the home, which is basically the purchase price. To make the math easier, on the purchase of a $100,000 home, the property taxes would be $1200 a year...

Thanks for all this interesting and inspiring information.
I was wondering if the HOA Dues were payable online.

Dear Patrick,
Residents of Laguna Woods Village enjoy high speed Internet access for the low cost of $20.95 a month, much less than Cox or
AT&T.
Any room addition or patio enclosure insurance must be paid by the owner in Third Mutual. The mutual does not provide fire and extended coverage or such additions.
Thank you for your excellent article, Patrick. Our location west of the freeway and in the path of cooling ocean breezes adds significantly to the value of our property, as does the Laguna Coast Wilderness Park bordering on our western perimeter, because it guards us against any future development on those 6,800 acres once slated for the Irvine Company's huge Laguna Laurel Project that would have been a disaster for
Laguna Woods Village. We owe Donald Bren a huge debt for helping us Keep it Wild forever.

Internal plumbing repairs are covered in United Mutual (co-ops) but not in Third Mutual. External repairs are paid by the mutuals.
